SBC student launches Nativity book

A beautiful new book for children was launched recently, written by SBC student Sister Sandra Sears, titled ‘Is there Room? A Welcoming Christmas Nativity Story’. A member of the Gladstone based Community of Ss Barnabas and Cecilia and an Anglican priest, Sister Sandra collaborated for this project with fellow student and artist Sister Sue Nirta, who illustrated the book. As well as being an author and poet, Sr Sandra also composes hymns and songs, one of which is included in her book, which is written in rhyme.

SBC KickStart initiative

Synod recently gave the green light to an SBC initiative to develop a discipleship training and ministry apprenticeship program across our diocese. Devised by Bishop Tim Harris, The SBC ‘KickStart Youth and Young Adult Ministry’ recognises the urgent need to build on existing parish youth programs and quarterly diocesan ‘Thrive’ events, by accessing other points of youth contact via Anglican schools and local connections.

Masters of Ministry program at SBC

A Masters of Ministry program will be offered at SBC from 2016. Aimed at serving as a platform for supporting all those in ministry leadership, a motion to develop the program was tabled at the recent Synod by college Vice Principal Tim Harris.

SBC in the North

Theology classes will be available from the end of July in the northern region, following a recent collaboration between St Barnabas College and Trinity College Gawler.

Learn Hebrew from the Experts

Biblical Hebrew 1, 2, and 3 is taught by Rev'd Dr Matthew Anstey, a leading authority in Biblical Hebrew. Matthew has published articles on Biblical Hebrew grammar in Journal of Semitic Studies, Hebrew Studies, and Linguistics. Matthew teaches for the whole school, so you can also learn Hebrew from him in Distance Mode. He uses a range of blended learning strategies, to make learning Hebrew by distance fun, interactive, and rewarding.

Biblical Greek 1 and 2 is also available.
